Turf-cutting Ceremony

A cut above the rest!

A turf-cutting ceremony was recently held in Motherwell to mark the start of work on the
construction of a new £1.8m Children’s House for North Lanarkshire Council.

Maxi Construction Limited is the Main Contractor for the new single-storey facility which
will provide six bedrooms with en-suite facilities, communal areas, kitchen and office
accommodation. The building will include vitral rooflights, rendered, facing brick and
timber cladding to external walls, underfloor heating and several bespoke items of
furniture of high quality materials. The six bedrooms will be housed within two circular
sections of the building.

The ceremony was carried out by Motherwell West Councillor Michael Ross (pictured
alongside North Lanarkshire Council’s Executive Director of Housing and Social Work
Services, Mary Castles). Mr Ross commented “It’s important that we support this
development as it provides young people and their families with vital support when they
need it most.”
